Wigfield Farm Trip

Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Wigfield Farm last Thursday. The children were well behaved and had a lovely walk from the bus to the farm. They loved feeding all the different animals and holding the reptiles. Back at school, they wrote about their day beautifully. Recounts to be proud of to end Year 2! Well done everyone!

Reds’ penalty shoot out!

A Giant’s Footprint

A mysterious footprint was left in our classroom. We concluded that it must have been the giant from Jack and the beanstalk.

We estimated the length and used cubes to measure it before deciding that a metre stick would be the best piece of equipment. We then practised measuring in metres and centimetres by choosing items from around the room making sure that we estimated first.

Life cycle dance

Year 2 worked in teams to create a sequence of movements to show the life cycle of a butterfly. Some of us even worked together to create the full shape of a butterfly.

The beauty in our world

We learned about the famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe through a fact finding quiz. Then we sketched the natural beauty in our school environment and enjoyed the lovely sunshine!

10 minute science challenge.

The challenge was to work together to build the highest tower. Using only paper, sticky tape and one pair of scissors the children had 10 minutes to create their designs. The winning team’s tower was 67cms high.

Amazing Great Fire Homeworks

We’ve been stunned by the great quality homework that has been brought in this half term. Here are a few examples! The children have shown great knowledge of and enthusiasm for The Great Fire of London.

Amazing art week

On Thursday, we mixed our own watercolour wash to create a Great Fire of London piece. Here we are experimenting with colour and tone.

Construction University

The first construction university group was a great success!

Everyone shared their skills in using Lego, blocks and polydron to create free choice designs.

We’re excited for the team challenge next week! Who will the winners be?
